    +Jobs California is a basic job site for California-based jobs. Initial page offers users a choice of jobs that are home-based or work-site-based. Site offers resume posting from Beyond.Com, and then moves to +Jobs America. This site includes links to resume posting, job searching for job seekers, and information for employers. Site includes searching by job title and location. A basic keyword search for “library” retrieved library-related positions (with library in the title) across the country.

  • Affirmative Action Register

    The National EEO Recruitment Publication is directed to females, minorities, veterans, and disabled persons as well as to all employment candidates for professional, managerial and administrative positions from institutions, organizations and companies who make extra effort to reach qualified candidates within all segments of our society, with special effort to notify members of Federally mandated groups that the position openings exist. Positions are separated into Academic Administrative, Academic Faculty, Engineering, Librarian, Research, Medical Professions, and Additional Opportunities.

  • All Freelance

    For the freelance employment, this site provides links to job opportunities, networking, and articles for both entry level and experience freelance information professional. It includes freelance job sites, telecommuting jobs, online course sites, project management sites. Site is convoluted and difficult to navigate, but includes a lot of information. Job sites are often international and general sites, such as Monster.com.

  • Careernet

    Site offers career information, resources, job seeker service organizations, preparing for job sites, interviewing tips, and resume preparation in addition to job searching. Jobs are separated by location (US, Canada, International), and each link leads to additional links for jobs by state. In each state link there are links for jobs by type, one of which is “library jobs in Tennessee”, which links to the Tennessee Library Association. Site is also searchable.

  • America's Career InfoNet

    Career InfoNet offers information on different occupations, allowing users to build a profile with employment, wages, skills, etc., and includes specific types of tools and technology used in certain jobs. Site includes a job bank and service locator. Site also offers career tools, that include scholarship search, certification finder, career resource library, and resume tutorials. Site requires user to search by category or keyword, and by city, zip code, or state. No category for library positions is included, but a keyword search can sometimes retrieve related positions. The industries listed are very broad. The listing provides the title, job description, location, and the hiring body.

  • CareerOneStop

    A publicly-funded gateway for job seekers of all levels, this site is packed with information and provides three distinct services, including Career InfoNET, America’s Job Bank, and a Service Locator. The job bank service has over a million job postings nationwide. Registration is required to post a resume.

  • Chronicle of Philanthropic Careers

    If one ignores the popup asking to participate in a long survey, this site offers basic job searching, links to job market information, volunteering, tools and training, and interview information. It also includes links and books on careers. All links are to non-profit organizations that include career services/job banks.

  • CIO.com Job Board
    Job site designed for senior level IT specialists. Site includes listing of executive positions, such as directors and vice president positions. Site also includes links to other IT-executive related sites, such as blogs, news sites, career councilors and analysts.

  • ComputerJobs - the Internet’s leading IT employment Web site

    This site is focused on computer-related positions including a skill-specific job search option, searching by location, resume posting, salary survey, and a special resume posting option for tech professionals with security clearance.

  • HigherEdJobs.Com

    HigherEdJobs.com provides listings of open positions in higher education. It allows searching by type (community colleges, part-time/adjunct), category (administrative, faculty, executive), by location (state/province, international, institution), and by keyword. It includes a resume posting service and an email job alert service.

  • InternshipPrograms.com
    Search for organizations offering internships by industry or location.
    InternshipPrograms.com includes resumé posting for employers who are exclusively looking for interns, as well as searching of a database of internships, read internship reviews, create a real-intern profile, or research companies and careers on Wetfeet.com. Site requires free registration, and has a job search option powered by careerbuilder.com

  • Jobs in Government

    Jobsingovernment.com is an online search site that presents several links to job search sites, such as careerbuilder.com, monster.com, and Dice. Jobs do not appear to be specifically related to government, and includes other search terms on the right side of the screen.

    JobStar is a California-based job site, which describes itself as a “job search guide from local public libraries.” Site includes resume and cover letter tutorials and samples, career guides, salary information, and includes jobs from California area, national, and worldwide in three separate links. Generally links to job postings of no specific type. National level job banks are maintained by Career Journal.com and Wall Street Journal

  • Job Safari

    Job Safari offers job information for different types of job searchers. It offers links for U.S. jobs, jobs, and jobsearch (all leading to essentially the same set of links), that include careerbuilder.com, ABC news jobs, and federaljobsearch.com. There are links to resume and career information, as well as links on working at home. Their job lists and job banks include various general web pages for job postings, including employmentguide.com and monster.com.

  • JobTrak

    A branch of Monster.com, a general nation-wide job search engine, offering employment and internship possibilities, and resume posting. Job site’s purpose is to connect recent graduates, current students, and career centers with employers, so the emphasis is on students or newly graduated job-seekers. Registered users (registration appears to be free) can search thousands of jobs posted by employers directly to specific school, save up to ten resumes online, access job search tips and career advice, and view general links to many other online career resources.

  • JobWeb

    A service of the National Association of Colleges and Employers, this site is geared toward new college graduates entering the workforce for the first time, but others may find useful information as well. The site offers an Online Career Fair, tips for interviews, an article library, and a featured article that is updated monthly. Site doesn’t post jobs, but does allow searching for employers by location and/or keyword. Note: keyword searches are unreliable (A search for “library” brought up 69 unrelated companies, from General Motors to the New York City Police Department).

  • Jobs.Internet.com → Technical job site, maintained by careerbuilder.com, offers jobs classified as high tech, and offers categories including information technology, engineering, design, management, consulting, professional services. Many jobs automatically retrieved have information management/analysis emphasis. Site also includes links to careerbuilder.com services, such as resume posting and job alerts.

  • JustTechJobs.com

    Job site is built around the concept of locating jobs based on skill, technical and software related such as MS Access or XML, or job type, such as e-commerce. Each skill is searched by location based on popularity of those jobs in those areas, and can be searched also through keyword option. Job site includes resume posting service.

  • Librarians' Index to the Internet

    LII has a jobs and careers section not specifically for librarians. This section provides general information on benefits, employment, employment law, job hunting, Labor Day, labor unions, resumes, self-employment, voluntarism, and wages. This page also includes links to career-specific job postings. Librarian can be selected from the Job Postings list. The following links are provided: Libraryjobpostings, Freepint (mostly for UK), Libjobs Archive, and Library Job Hunting at Ann's Place. There is also a link for information technology-based job sites.

  • Net-Temps: A World of Jobs Neatly Packaged

    The free Job Seekers Desktop contains searching tools, resume posting & editing tools, online resources, and online forums for job seekers. Information technology is their largest field, with over 85% of jobs and resumes IT related.

  • Work Search

    This site contains the original content of Gary Will's Archeus WorkSearch website. It is no longer maintained, but the site still contains an assortment of articles by Gary Will on resumes, cover letters, and interview techniques, and a few references to books on career development.

  • Yahoo Business and Economy

    Site offers resources for Job and Internship Seekers, Yahoo general topic search under Employment and Work. Basic search engine with links to careerbuilder.com and monster.com. Category search includes booksellers, career and job services, career planning, interviewing, jobs, recruitment and placement, resume, and resignation letters.

Alaska

  • Alaska Jobs Center

    The Alaska Jobs Online directory of job and employment listings is the most comprehensive directory of employment resources in Alaska. The site includes information on living and moving to Alaska, as well as the cost of living. Site includes links to various types of job locators, including google, Alaska Job Center Network, and allstarjobs.com.

Illinois

  • Iljobs.com

    Illinois Jobs site includes jobs posted for all of Illinois. Site also includes resources for job seekers, such as career fairs and career resources.

Michigan

  • Michigan Live: Search Total Jobs

    Basic searchable job site, with resume posting service. Site allows users to search for education/training employment ads in newspapers for Ann Arbor, Detroit, Flint, Grand Rapids, Lansing, Jackson, Kalamazoo, and Saginaw/Bay City/Midland area.

New York

  • New York METRO Magnet Jobs


    New York METRO Magnet includes a job bank where local public, academic, special and school libraries post jobs

Australia

  • Employment Australia

    Extensive collection of job vacancies, use keywords related to the library field in the search tool. Libraries are not included in the thirty-three general categories, but searching by keyword brings all library jobs within Australia and New Zealand. Site includes career resources, job seeking articles, interviewing and resume tips, and a job alert service. There is also specifically information for overseas job seekers.

  • JobNet Australia

    A large index of computing, technology and management contract and permanent employment opportunities in Australia, New Zealand and Asia through various employment agencies; vacancies updated daily. Use keywords related to the library field in the search tool. Site includes email alerts, resume posting.

  • OzJobs: ACP online

    Job site covers items of interest to Australian computing professionals; includes extensive list of computing-related vacancies, including library-specific jobs. Related main job categories are IT, but there is a subcategory for library services. Site includes email job alert service. Jobs in Library Science are not extensive, but they include academic/educational positions and community libraries.

International

  • Idealist.org Non-Profit Jobs Around the World

    Site offers links to non-profit international jobs posted on the web. It includes links to nonprofit career fairs, email updates, resources, fellowships in public service, resource guides, resume writing, academic programs, volunteering, and one-year service opportunities in the U.S. Resources include articles for nonprofit job seekers, diversity in workplaces, professional associations, and CareerJournal. Job search includes job categories including information management-related and library positions.

  • Jobs@OK/Cancel This site is a consolidation of publicly available and privately submitted job postings in HCI, Usability, User Experience, Interaction Design, Information Architecture and Ergonomics. Site is international in focus and allows user to sort through positions by category/position, region, or monthly archives.

United Kingdom

  • Free Pint Jobs

    Free Pint is a UK-based free e-mail newsletter with tips on Internet searching and Web site reviews, and posts many UK and European jobs. Includes both full time and part time positions of various levels of professionalism. Site also offers information for recruiters as well, but generally just a job posting site.

Newspaper

  • Mercury News

    Web site of MercuryNews.com newspaper. San Jose, CA, based online classifieds for information technology positions and advice for job seekers. Site has a number of special features for job seekers, including technology-oriented job fairs, all hosted by careerbuilder.com.

  • Sacramento Bee

    The job site of the Sacremento Bee, from Sacramento, California, includes jobs posted in the paper’s classified ads, as well as resume posting and resume and interview tips. It also has information on social service positions, resources, salary information, and job market information. Job site includes searching by keyword, category, job status (full/part, temporary or permanent), and location.

  • San Francisco Chronicle/Examiner Jobs

    The job page of the San Francisco Chronicle allows user to search through jobs posted on web site or in the printed newspaper. Site includes service for resume and cover letter posting, as well as job searching. Jobs are searchable by region, category, or keyword. A search for ‘library’ found jobs related to librarianship, research, and technology.

  • Miami Herald
    Sun-Sentinel Jobs (Greater Fort Lauderdale/Boca Raton)
    Orlando Sentinel Jobs

    Miami Herald, Orlando Sentinel, and Sun-Sentinel job sites are all powered by careerbuilder.com. Allows user to search by keyword for library/information positions. Site also includes career resources of careerbuilder.com, such as advice and job alerts. Each site searches that particular area/city for jobs.

  • Des Moines Register Jobs

    Through the Des Moines Register, site offers job searching through Careerbuilder.com with basic careerbuilder.com job resources, such as career advice, job alerts, and resume posting.

  • Lexington Herald-Leader Jobs

    Through the Lexington Herald-Leader, site offers job searching through Careerbuilder.com with basic careerbuilder.com job resources, such as career advice, job alerts, and resume posting.

  • BostonWorks

    The Boston Globe’s job site page, includes job searching, career fairs, resume posting, and email alerts. Job searching category includes information technology/MIS. A search for “library” brought over a hundred library-related positions available in Boston area

  • TwinCities.com Careers

    St. Paul, Minnesota, site of St. Paul Pioneer Press, job site, powered by careerbuilder.com. Comes with careerbuilder.com options, including career advice, resume posting, and email alerts.

  • Guardian Unlimited Jobs

    General job site of The Guardian, a UK-based newspaper. Site categorizing jobs, including education, media, and IT. Site includes an email service and career advice. Jobs can range from all over England.
