American Society for Information Science and Technology

ASIS&T at the University of Tennessee 

     As stated on the organization’s website, the mission of the  American Society for Information Science and Technology’s (ASIST) mission is “to advance the information sciences and related applications of information technology by providing focus, opportunity, and support to information professionals and organizations.”            

     ASIST is an organization composed of information professionals from such fields as computer science, linguistics, management, librarianship, engineering, law, medicine, chemistry, and education.  ASIST helps these professionals keep up with the rapid advancements and changes in library and information science, communications, networking, and computer science.           

Some benefits of membership can include:  

  • Networking opportunities with informational professionals
  • Opportunities to grow professionally by attending field trips and participating in events
  • Opportunities to work with other students
  • Resume enhancement

 Membership: $5 for the student chapter
