Upon completion of their coursework and completion of the comprehensive examination, ePortfolio, or defense of a thesis, graduates will be able to communicate their understanding of:
- The processes of production, distribution, organization, preservation, retrieval and use of information in society;
- The general principles, values and ethical standards of providing information services in a variety of settings and for diverse populations;
- The responsibilities of the library and information professional in a culturally diverse, technological and global society;
- Critical professional issues in operational and historical contexts;
- Information policies and information-related laws that influence the delivery of information resources throughout society;
- The nature of information, information needs, information seeking behavior and information use in society;
- Information technologies, systems, sources and services that serve others effectively and efficiently;
- The role of research in the profession;
- Leadership in the profession and influential participation in the global information society.
