

The first lecture will feature Drs. Shirley and Wayne Wiegand. The lecture title is, "Free to All? The Painful Process of Desegregating Public Libraries in the American South." The lecture is co-hosted with the Hodges Library.

In additon to their lecture topics, both are continuing to research and write in related areas. Dr. Shirley Wiegand is writing a book about the desegregation of America’s public libraries during the Civil Rights movement.
Dr. Wayne Wiegand has another book in process, “`Right Here I See My Own Books:’ The Women’s Library at the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair.” This book is coauthored with Sarah Wadsworth.
