The creative and economic potential of human endeavor is
unleashed through knowledge creation, a cycle of innovation
that depends on communication to spur inquiry, discovery and
collaboration across cultures and between nations.
Communication to facilitate this cycle can improve the human
condition in many areas, including health and economic
development, and can promote mutual understanding. Communication
strategies to encourage the knowledge creation cyle often
focus on the effective integration, and dissemination
of information. I believe digital libraries can provide
the dynamic environment needed to improve the knowledge
creation cycle in many contexts beause the digital library
creates a forum for communication and encourages collaboration
by providing tools that minimize cultural and disciplinary
barriers.
