The Children's Defense Fund Alex Haley Farm is a 157 acre facility that serves as the home of the Children's Defense Fund's mission to ensure every child a Head Start, a Healthy Start, a Safe Start, a Fair Start, a Moral Start, and . This facility serves as the organization's training ground for the next generation of children's advocates. More than 3,000 people visit CDF Haley Farm annually to attend community building workshops, to be trained in how to advocate for children and families in their communities, and to participate in movement building conferences that promote CDF's Leave No Child Behind mission. Work will take place mainly in the Langston Hughes Library on the CDF Alex Haley Farm and in the office on the farm.
The student will be expected to assist the librarian with online cataloging and updating the catalogue. The student may also be asked to assist with other duties related to hosting groups on Haley Farm such as assisting with book store sales and answering phone calls in the office.
